Exploring digital pathways: Miso and beyond
One of several digital explorations within SWITCH: investigating how AI can support sustainable dietary change.
Transforming how people eat is not a single-track endeavour. It requires rethinking not just what is on the plate, but how knowledge travels: how it reaches people, resonates with them, and motivates change in their daily lives. Within SWITCH, we have been exploring multiple roads toward this goal: from community-based interventions in regional Food Hubs, to data-driven tools, to digital experiences designed to make sustainable eating feel relevant and accessible to everyone.

Miso is one of those explorations. A conversational AI companion developed within the project, Miso investigates how dialogue-based interfaces can support people in learning about sustainable and healthy diets by adapting to different cultural contexts, communication styles, and levels of prior knowledge. The premise is simple: good information, delivered in the right way, can shift how people think and act around food.
What can Miso do?
🌱 Teach how to make the most of seasonal, fresh, local ingredients.
🌍 Give tips on sustainable food choices and waste reduction.
🏷️ Show you how to decode food labels and understand certifications.
🥗 Propose practical ways to nourish your body while caring for the planet.
